Rômulo Silva charged in rather forcefully in the 6th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Rômulo Silva the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. If Luizão Maranhense had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 8th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Naldo Leal in the 12th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Chicão Capixaba saved Locomotives from getting behind. Sonhem EC's Rômulo Silva got a good chance for a goal in the 13th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 16 minutes into the match, Sonhem EC's goal looked a bit too open when Francisco Brodel came free, but Eduardo Siqueira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Luizão Maranhense received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. Eduardo Siqueira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Eduardo Siqueira showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Francisco Brodel in the 26th minute of the match. 29 minutes into the game, Locomotives's Luizão Maranhense nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Eduardo Siqueira made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Naldo Leal stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. If Frederico Vinhas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Frederico Vinhas struck a weak shot in the 53rd minute. Luizão Maranhense fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eduardo Siqueira having to interfere. In the 95thth minute of the game Francisco Brodel who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Sonhem EC's Eduardo Siqueira was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Sonhem EC's Eduardo Siqueira played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luizão Maranhense in the 96th minute of play. The home crowd let out a huge roar when the referee blew for the end of the game. Locomotives were victorious despite being under pressure from Sonhem EC for much of the match.
