Osmar Arce went to the cornerflag to take it. 42 minutes into the match, São Paulo F.C's goal looked a bit too open when Eurico Ferreira came free, but Luciano Sampaio reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A hard shot by Paulo Renato Marques from long distance, 45 minutes into the match, got Luciano Sampaio's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side.

The wind increased when Eurico Ferreira made the kick off in the second half. In the 50th minute, Adhemar Soeiro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.
