The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. When Ricardinho Xavier came up free with the goalie in the 4th minute, the Guarapuava EC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ricardinho Xavier couldn't finish the play. If Walmir Veiga had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 6th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cristian Arruda took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Betão Domingues, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 11 minutes into the match, Guarapuava EC's Walmir Veiga sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Victor Cerezo narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Bernardinho Campidelis succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-0 in the 15th playminute. Betão Domingues fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cristian Arruda having to interfere. After 24 minutes of play, Guarapuava EC's Walmir Veiga made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Victor Cerezo was left in no man's land by his defense there! Walmir Veiga received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Victor Cerezo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 28 minutes into the game, Guarapuava EC's Ricardinho Xavier nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Victor Cerezo made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. In the 33rd minute, Walmir Veiga hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Guarapuava EC's Cristian Arruda proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 37th minute of the match, managed to save Guarapuava EC from getting a goal against them. Betão Domingues received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Cristian Arruda tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With an all-out effort, ALVINEGRO.LHP's Cristian Arruda threw himself towards the right post 46 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Betão Domingues, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Walmir Veiga's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Victor Cerezo read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 47th minute of play. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Walmir Veiga to make the kick off. Ricardinho Xavier received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Victor Cerezo came out and tried to block the shot, but Ricardinho Xavier slotted it home off the left post making it 1-3 in the 57th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 69th minute, Ricardinho Xavier managed to get in a good position for a shot. Guarapuava EC's supporters rose to their feet, but Ricardinho Xavier was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Victor Cerezo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. João Vítor Urbano received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 72nd minute. Victor Cerezo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 74th minute, Walmir Sanches hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Dráusio Veiga's late challenge caught a ALVINEGRO.LHP's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Dráusio Veiga helped the player get up and apologised. In the 84th minute, Guarapuava EC's Elivélton Amaral seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Elivélton Amaral the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Guarapuava EC protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Elivélton Amaral had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 84th minute of the game. One of Guarapuava EC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of ALVINEGRO.LHP:s goal. Richard de Souza shot the penalty kick right outside the post. Cristian Arruda showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bernardinho Campidelis, who was totally free with the ball in the 90th minute. If João Vítor Urbano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. ALVINEGRO.LHP's Victor Cerezo proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 94th minute of the match, managed to save ALVINEGRO.LHP from getting a goal against them. In the 95th match minute, ALVINEGRO.LHP was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Oséas Valadares to maneuver through the defense. In the 97th match minute, ALVINEGRO.LHP was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dadá Saldanha to maneuver through the defense. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Guarapuava EC walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
