Luan Jacinto was shown his second yellow card after 7 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. In the 8th match minute, Botafogo fc was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luan Jacinto to maneuver through the defense. Erasmo Magalhães made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Leonel Mineiro in the 11th minute of play. If Simão Leal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Leonel Mineiro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 16th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A sloppy throw-in by Reinaldo Siqueira in the 22nd minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by RUNA FC's Sérgio de Moraes. After some fancy dribbling in the 24th minute, Washington Seco managed to get in a good position for a shot. RUNA FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Washington Seco was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Edson Leme breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Cristiano Torres charged in rather forcefully in the 36th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Cristiano Torres the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 36 played minutes RUNA FC got a freekick which was hit by Cristiano Torres. After a rather tough play, Botafogo fc's Leonel Mineiro got a free kick in the 39th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 40th minute, Váldson de Godoi managed to get in a good position for a shot. RUNA FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Váldson de Godoi was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Edson Leme breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Sérgio de Moraes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Edson Leme having to interfere. In the 45th minute, Sérgio de Moraes got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Váldson de Godoi was the one to do the kick off. Leonel Mineiro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Erasmo Magalhães having to interfere. Cauan de Moraes's late challenge caught a RUNA FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Cauan de Moraes helped the player get up and apologised. 59 minutes into the game, one of Botafogo fc:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. RUNA FC's Váldson de Godoi got a good chance for a goal in the 63rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After having played for 65 minutes, Sérgio de Moraes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. RUNA FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sérgio de Moraes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. A collision led to RUNA FC getting a freekick after 71 minutes play. Váldson de Godoi hit a great ball. Edson Leme came out of the goal in the 77th minute to try and stop a shot by RUNA FC's Váldson de Godoi. But to his dismay, Váldson de Godoi quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-1. Sérgio de Moraes struck a weak shot in the 81st minute. Edson Leme didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for RUNA FC. In the 83rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Botafogo fc's goalkeeper Edson Leme, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Sérgio de Moraes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
