After some careless play in the Thayus Clube de Futebol defense, Fausto Mota kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Chicão Alvarenga. The Thayus Clube de Futebol fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Chicão Alvarenga should have stopped the shot. Chicão Alvarenga showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tadeu Coelho, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. In the 16th minute Tadeu Coelho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Chicão Alvarenga saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 17 played minutes Ibicaba got a freekick which was hit by Tony da Silveira. Arí Peres received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. Chicão Alvarenga was left in no man's land by his defense there! Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Fausto Mota to make the kick off. After a defensive mix-up in Ibicaba's zone, Arí Peres stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Zé Neiva came out of the goal and Arí Peres tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Tony da Silveira fell near the penalty area in the 55th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ibicaba's protests and gave Tony da Silveira a yellow card for diving instead. Zé Neiva made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kiko Torres in the 58th minute of play. In the 59th minute, Ibicaba's Tony da Silveira ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Chicão Alvarenga. Chicão Alvarenga yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-3. Zézinho Novaes might have been able to make a better finish in the 73rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Zé Neiva. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Zézinho Novaes ran back to his position shaking his head. Chicão Alvarenga showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tadeu Coelho in the 74th minute of the match. When Arí Peres came up free with the goalie in the 77th minute, the Thayus Clube de Futebol fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Arí Peres couldn't finish the play. After a defensive mix-up in Ibicaba's zone, Arí Peres stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Zé Neiva came out of the goal and Arí Peres tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Ibicaba's Tadeu Coelho suffered a concussion in the 85th minute, after a hard challenge, and had to leave the field. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Diamantino Quintal during the 85th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Diamantino Quintal hit a great freekick 85 minutes into the match. Lauro Ramos could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 88th minute of the match, but Chicão Alvarenga made a huge save. In the 89th match minute, Thayus Clube de Futebol was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by William Prado to maneuver through the defense. Ibicaba's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
