With an all-out effort, Criciúma E.C's Chicão Alvarenga threw himself towards the right post 21 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Frédson Leme, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. 21 minutes into the match, Criciúma E.C's goal looked a bit too open when Arí Peres came free, but Caco Valle reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 23 minutes into the game, Arí Peres cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Caco Valle was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The wind increased when Arí Peres made the kick off in the second half. After some fancy dribbling in the 51st minute, Arí Peres managed to get in a good position for a shot. Thayus Clube de Futebol's supporters rose to their feet, but Arí Peres was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Caco Valle breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Ediberto Faria fell near the penalty area in the 52nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The second half was just like the first, even and exciting. The match ended in a draw.
