After a defensive mix-up in Esporte Clube de Carmo's zone, Douglas Trevisan stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Valério Duarte came out of the goal and Douglas Trevisan tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Claudinei Souto during the 12th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Esporte Clube de Carmo booed when Trocary was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Claudinei Souto didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jailson Sergipano recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 16th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Jailson Sergipano sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. When Conrado Pires came up free with the goalie in the 28th minute, the Esporte Clube de Carmo fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Conrado Pires couldn't finish the play. In the 38th minute, Jailson Sergipano got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Jailson Sergipano received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Duarte de Mendonça tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Jailson Sergipano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

Valério Duarte took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Douglas Trevisan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 85 minutes into the match, Trocary's goal looked a bit too open when Jailson Sergipano came free, but Duarte de Mendonça reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 87th minute, Jailson Sergipano hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Duarte de Mendonça took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jailson Sergipano, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Edu Vidal sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 95 minutes, Jailson Sergipano managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Esporte Clube de Carmo's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jailson Sergipano was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Esporte Clube de Carmo's Jailson Sergipano got a good chance for a goal in the 96th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Trocary succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though Esporte Clube de Carmo had controlled the match.
