The audience thought a goal was coming when Emílio Cardozo got free with Paulinho Maciel in the 16th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 22ndth minute of the game Ramón Cosme who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Xv de piracicaba's Paulinho Maciel was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 23 minutes into the match, Adelino Motta notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of São Paulo's Herbert Svensson. Herbert Svensson was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Adelino Motta sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 40th minute, Ulisses Paulista hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The Xv de piracicaba fans' excitement grew in the 41st match minute when Xv de piracicaba's Adelino Motta looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After 44 minutes, Dieguinho Cabral mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Xv de piracicaba and the São Paulo players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Xv de piracicaba getting a freekick after 44 minutes play. Dieguinho Cabral hit a great ball. Ramón Cosme recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 46th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.

Paulinho Maciel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Emílio Cardozo, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. Emílio Cardozo blasted a shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Paulinho Maciel having to make a save. When Adelino Motta came up free with the goalie in the 57th minute, the Xv de piracicaba fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Adelino Motta couldn't finish the play. Lauro Amaral took the ball and in the 59 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Herbert Svensson. Herbert Svensson dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-3. When Lauro Amaral came up free with the goalie in the 63rd minute, the Xv de piracicaba fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Lauro Amaral couldn't finish the play. If Ramón Cosme had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Ramón Cosme recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 67th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Herbert Svensson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Adelino Motta, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Ramón Cosme had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the match had gone on for 76 minutes, Adelino Motta took a quick shot and it went in 1-4 without a chance for Herbert Svensson to make any attempt to save it. After 79 minutes of play, São Paulo's Ramón Cosme made it 2-4 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Paulinho Maciel was left in no man's land by his defense there! Herbert Svensson was out of position in the 85 minute of play, and Adelino Motta capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Adelino Motta really showed his touch with that goal: 2-5. Lauro Amaral fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Herbert Svensson having to interfere. Adelino Motta got in the 91st a clear chance and fired away a hard shot against goal, but Herbert Svensson handled the situation perfectly and made a save by the crossbar. With his leg Herbert Svensson managed to avoid a goal in the 93rdth minute, when Xv de piracicaba's Lauro Amaral fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. The São Paulo supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Xv de piracicaba's performance. The match ended with a win for Xv de piracicaba.
