The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Túlio Santana made an important save on a dangerous shot by Luciano Rossi in the 3rd minute. After 7 played minutes Santatico F C got a freekick which was hit by Duarte Paiva. In the 7th minute, Cássio do Valle sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Santatico F C's Fernandinho de Sousa didn't even have to move. When Flamengo SSA's Gualter de Andrade in the 11th minute got a chance for a shot 11th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Santatico F C's goalie prevented a goal. Flamengo SSA's Túlio Santana played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hernani Aparecido in the 15th minute of play. Jano Bueno kicked well hit freekick during the 18th minute of the match. In the 22nd minute Hernani Aparecido shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Túlio Santana saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Flamengo SSA's Toninho Valladares in the 28th minute got a chance for a shot 28th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Santatico F C's goalie prevented a goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Toninho Valladares in the 29th minute of play forced Santatico F C's goalkeeper Fernandinho de Sousa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 30th minute, Jano Bueno hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 31st minute of the match Cássio do Valle shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Fernandinho de Sousa showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Fernandinho de Sousa stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Toninho Valladares's shot from short distance in the 33rd minute. Gualter de Andrade sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Flamengo SSA's Túlio Santana played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hernani Aparecido in the 40th minute of play. 43 minutes into the match, Flamengo SSA's Toninho Valladares sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Fernandinho de Sousa narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Josué Mazza hit a great freekick 47 minutes into the match. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Toninho Valladares stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Hernani Aparecido struck a weak shot in the 52nd minute. Túlio Santana didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Santatico F C. Hernani Aparecido recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 56th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Túlio Santana showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hernani Aparecido, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. When Santatico F C's Luciano Rossi in the 60th minute got a chance for a shot 60th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Flamengo SSA's goalie prevented a goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 64th minute, Hernani Aparecido managed to get in a good position for a shot. Santatico F C's supporters rose to their feet, but Hernani Aparecido was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Túlio Santana breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After some fancy dribbling in the 73rd minute, Gualter de Andrade managed to get in a good position for a shot. Santatico F C were furious when Hélder Paraibano was red carded, 87 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. In a very dangerous position, a player in Santatico F C fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 87th minute. Penalty! Fernandinho de Sousa had in the 89thth minute some difficulties stopping Cássio do Valle's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. 89 minutes into the match, Cássio do Valle notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Santatico F C's Fernandinho de Sousa. Fernandinho de Sousa was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Flamengo SSA had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
