Dagoberto Proença made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jerônimo Meira in the 13th minute of play. Celso Cerezo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 14th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. A collision led to Cerquilho getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. Ademir de Alcântara hit a great ball. In the 18th minute, Celso Cerezo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 20 minutes into the match, Cerquilho's goal looked a bit too open when José Maria de Salles came free, but Dagoberto Proença reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Clóvis Vides hit a great freekick 22 minutes into the match. Jerônimo Meira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Dagoberto Proença showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Celso Cerezo in the 26th minute of the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Clóvis Vides during the 30th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 31 played minutes Cerquilho got a freekick which was hit by Clóvis Vides. In the 33rd match minute, Crisopolis was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Zézinho Sarmento to maneuver through the defense. Dagoberto Proença made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Celso Cerezo in the 44th minute of play.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Celso Cerezo to make the kick off. The supporters of Crisopolis booed when Cerquilho was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 51 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ademir de Alcântara didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cerquilho's Dagoberto Proença proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 56th minute of the match, managed to save Cerquilho from getting a goal against them. After some fancy dribbling in the 63rd minute, Clóvis Vides managed to get in a good position for a shot. Cerquilho's supporters rose to their feet, but Clóvis Vides was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Luisinho Pitta breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Wiliam Veiga fell near the penalty area in the 65th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Cerquilho's protests and gave Wiliam Veiga a yellow card for diving instead. If Celso Cerezo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Crisopolis's Juarês Quirino got a good chance for a goal in the 77th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Juarês Quirino struck a weak shot in the 94th minute. Dagoberto Proença didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Crisopolis.
