But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Edvaldo Penha couldn't finish the play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Túlio Passos in the 26th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Lenílson Branco prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Lenílson Branco showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from José Paulo Fontes, who was totally free with the ball in the 33rd minute. Edvaldo Penha recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 36th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Edvaldo Penha fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tadeu Aparecido having to interfere.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and José Paulo Fontes made a kick off. 56 minutes into the game, José Augusto Simões was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. A. A. Veterana's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave CHUTE NO SACO F.C. the free kick. Veterana players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
