Spectators: 7245 (Terracing: 5435, Seating: 1666, VIP seats: 144) 3 minutes into the game, Alfredão Jacinto cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Jorge Rocha was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Alfredão Jacinto in the 6th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jorge Rocha prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 7 played minutes Digão SC got a freekick which was hit by Aloísio Severo. Alfredão Jacinto recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 12th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Joaquim Munhoz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 22nd minute the ball was on its way in behind THE PHOENIX's goalkeeper Jorge Rocha, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 26th minute, Alfredão Jacinto got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Alfredão Jacinto received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Jorge Rocha tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 30 minutes into the match, Joaquim Munhoz notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of THE PHOENIX's Jorge Rocha. Alfredão Jacinto fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jorge Rocha having to interfere. The supporters of Digão SC booed when THE PHOENIX was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eriberto Penha didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Diamantino Machado had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After the first half Digão SC were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Angelo Lopes was the one to do the kick off. After a rather tough play, THE PHOENIX's Eriberto Penha got a free kick in the 55th minute. The long shot by Germano Proença in the 56th minute really tested Jorge Rocha's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. Fausto Vidal hit a great freekick 57 minutes into the match. Joaquim Munhoz could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 65th minute of the match, but Jorge Rocha made a huge save. Anderson do Nascimento hit a great freekick 66 minutes into the match. After 69 played minutes, Digão SC's Cláudio Valladares shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Jorge Rocha came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Digão SC reached it. After 70 minutes, Anderson do Nascimento mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the THE PHOENIX and the Digão SC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Anderson do Nascimento kicked well hit freekick during the 70th minute of the match. Joaquim Munhoz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 75th minute. Jorge Rocha tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 84th minute, Diamantino Machado got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Digão SC's Jerônimo Pimenta played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Angelo Lopes in the 85th minute of play. THE PHOENIX's Carlos Fernando Galvão was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Jerônimo Pimenta in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. After a defensive mix-up in THE PHOENIX's zone, Joaquim Munhoz stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jorge Rocha came out of the goal and Joaquim Munhoz tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alfredão Jacinto in the 93rd minute of play forced THE PHOENIX's goalkeeper Jorge Rocha to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Digão SC's Erasmo Vale got a free kick in the 98th minute. The corner led THE PHOENIX's Carlos Fernando Galvão to fire away a dangerous shot which Jerônimo Pimenta despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Digão SC played a much better game than THE PHOENIX and deserved their victory. The THE PHOENIX players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
