Ivo Berger guarding the goal like a pit bull was extremely focused and managed to reach the ball just by the crossbar before it went in. Alfredão Jacinto sent away a hard shot on goal in the 11th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Egídio Vander sent away a hard shot on goal in the 14th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Durval Neto charged in rather forcefully in the 15th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Durval Neto the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Durval Neto hit a great freekick 15 minutes into the match. In the 28th minute Egídio Vander shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jerônimo Pimenta saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Benjamim Dracena sent away a hard shot on goal in the 31st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Alfredão Jacinto came up free with the goalie in the 36th minute, the Digão SC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alfredão Jacinto couldn't finish the play. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Alfredão Jacinto to make the kick off. 55 minutes into the match, Alfredão Jacinto had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Ivo Berger. Maranhão Futebol Clube's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Alfredão Jacinto was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. Ivo Berger was left in no man's land by his defense there! 85 minutes into the match, Maranhão Futebol Clube's goal looked a bit too open when Alfredão Jacinto came free, but Ivo Berger reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 87 minutes into the match, Digão SC's Joaquim Munhoz sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Ivo Berger narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Digão SC's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
