When the match clock showed 6 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Zé Pedro Dantas sped through THE PHOENIX's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Jorge Rocha. In the 13th match minute, THE PHOENIX was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Anderson do Nascimento to maneuver through the defense. When Angelo Lopes fell near the penalty area in the 15th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored THE PHOENIX's protests and gave Angelo Lopes a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to THE PHOENIX getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. Angelo Lopes hit a great ball. 19 minutes into the match, Tacare's Zé Pedro Dantas sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jorge Rocha narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Jorge Rocha showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Wesley Zanette in the 20th minute of the match. In the 44th minute, Rafinha Linares got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The audience was convinced that Zé Pedro Dantas's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jorge Rocha was relentless in the 45th minute of the game. Magno Passos struck a weak shot in the 46th minute. Jorge Rocha didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Tacare. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Angelo Lopes made the kick off in the second half. Jorge Rocha took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rafinha Linares, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Diamantino Machado hit a great freekick 59 minutes into the match. Rafinha Linares's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jorge Rocha read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 59th minute of play. Jorge Rocha was a little too slow when Zé Pedro Dantas got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 65th minute. The score was now 0-2. José Maria de Queirós received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 69th minute. Jorge Rocha tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Rafinha Linares received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 71st minute. Tacare's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave THE PHOENIX the free kick. A collision led to Tacare getting a freekick after 88 minutes play. Cícero da Fonseca hit a great ball. After 89 played minutes, THE PHOENIX's Carlos Fernando Galvão shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Sandrinho Cunha came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in THE PHOENIX reached it. After a rather tough play, Tacare's Cícero da Fonseca got a free kick in the 89th minute. If Diamantino Machado had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Tacare played a much better game than THE PHOENIX and deserved their victory. The THE PHOENIX players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
