The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Henrique Esteves showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luisinho Moura in the 4th minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Filipe Berger got free with Henrique Esteves in the 5th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 7th minute Luisinho Moura shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Henrique Esteves saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Borussia Dortmund's Henrique Esteves played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Filipe Berger in the 13th minute of play. Henrique Esteves showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luisinho Moura, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. 18 minutes into the match, Lagoado AD's goal looked a bit too open when Emílio Alvarenga came free, but Diogo Mendes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 23rd minute, Zeca Silva ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Diogo Mendes was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. 26 minutes into the match, Lagoado AD's goal looked a bit too open when Zeca Silva came free, but Diogo Mendes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Zeca Silva sent away a hard shot on goal in the 31st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Diogo Mendes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Zeca Silva, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 40th minute, Filipe Berger got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Zeca Silva blasted a shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Diogo Mendes having to make a save. In the 46th minute Ronaldinho Perez shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Diogo Mendes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Luisinho Moura made a kick off. In the 52nd minute, Bruno Sousa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a rather tough play, Borussia Dortmund's Zeca Silva got a free kick in the 60th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luiz Gustavo de Brito in the 63rd minute of play forced Borussia Dortmund's goalkeeper Henrique Esteves to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 64 played minutes Borussia Dortmund got a freekick which was hit by Alessandro Zonta. After some fancy dribbling in the 65th minute, Filipe Berger managed to get in a good position for a shot. Lagoado AD's supporters rose to their feet, but Filipe Berger was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Henrique Esteves breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 68 minutes into the match, Lagoado AD's goalkeeper Diogo Mendes had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Zeca Silva. In the 71st minute, one of Borussia Dortmund:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Borussia Dortmund. The referee gave Lagoado AD a penalty, 72 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Dorival Secco, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Borussia Dortmund's Henrique Esteves. 1-1. Ronaldinho Perez sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Borussia Dortmund's Ronaldinho Perez got a good chance for a goal in the 80th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Zeca Silva struck a weak shot in the 83rd minute. Diogo Mendes didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Borussia Dortmund. Zeca Silva recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 92nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Filipe Berger received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 95th minute. Henrique Esteves tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Borussia Dortmund were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
