Téo Leite took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 5th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Valdemar Koehler. Jacu's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Valdemar Koehler showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rubens Neto in the 6th minute of the match. If Rubens Neto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 8th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Eurico Sampaio kicked well hit freekick during the 15th minute of the match. After 16 played minutes, Jacu's Ediberto Amaral shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Gualter da Rocha came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Jacu reached it. In the 24th minute Mané Meirelles shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gualter da Rocha saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Vitinho Peixoto fell near the penalty area in the 26th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Jacu's protests and gave Vitinho Peixoto a yellow card for diving instead. After 25 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Jacu! Aloísio Luz scored 1-1 in the 30th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Gualter da Rocha, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 32nd minute Orlando Neiva shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Valdemar Koehler saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Merity getting a freekick after 33 minutes play. Eurico Sampaio hit a great ball. Rubens Neto's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Valdemar Koehler read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 36th minute of play. In the 38th match minute, Merity was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Álvaro Lima to maneuver through the defense. Eurico Sampaio got his second yellow card in the match during the 42nd minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. A collision led to Merity getting a freekick after 42 minutes play. Eurico Sampaio hit a great ball. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Mané Meirelles to make the kick off. Orlando Neiva received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Valdemar Koehler tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Dito Arruda hit a great freekick 68 minutes into the match. 69 minutes into the game, one of Jacu:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 71st minute there was a penalty for Merity. Téo Leite stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Valdemar Koehler. 2-2. The supporters of Jacu booed when Merity was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 78 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rubens Neto didn't get a good kick on the ball. Mané Meirelles received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 80th minute. Gualter da Rocha tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Orlando Neiva couldn't finish the play. Merity were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
