Nando Almeida kicked well hit freekick during the 15th minute of the match. Aloísio Luz made a well adjusted shot against goal in the 23rdth minute coming free in front of the goal, but Mazinho Alves would not let the ball come through at any expense and made a nice save by the left post. When the match had gone on for 31 minutes, Caco Martins put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Valdemar Koehler. Dário da Mata sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to CGMS FC getting a freekick after 38 minutes play. Simão de Lara hit a great ball. Mazinho Alves stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Mané Meirelles's shot from short distance in the 40th minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Mané Meirelles in the 41st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Mazinho Alves prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Jacu's Valdemar Koehler played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nando Almeida in the 45th minute of play. 47 minutes into the match, Jacu's goal looked a bit too open when Caco Martins came free, but Valdemar Koehler reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Zé Roberto Neto fell near the penalty area in the 47th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Jacu's protests and gave Zé Roberto Neto a yellow card for diving instead. In the 47th match minute, Jacu was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Zé Roberto Neto to maneuver through the defense. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Mané Meirelles stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After 54 played minutes CGMS FC got a freekick which was hit by Téo Lago. Caco Martins blasted a shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Valdemar Koehler having to make a save. The supporters of CGMS FC booed when Jacu was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hélder Proença didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 64 minutes, Dário da Mata managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. CGMS FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dário da Mata was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Dário da Mata in the 75thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Valdemar Koehler, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Caco Martins sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Caco Martins came up free with the goalie in the 79th minute, the CGMS FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Caco Martins couldn't finish the play. Jacu's Hélder Proença got his second yellow card of the match in the 79th minute. The referee ordered Hélder Proença off the ground. In the 82nd minute, Dário da Mata got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Valdemar Koehler made a fantastic save in the 85th minute, when Dário da Mata sent off a good shot on target. If Dário da Mata had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After a rather tough play, Jacu's Zé Roberto Neto got a free kick in the 94th minute.
