Giovani Penha showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Juninho Bastos, who was totally free with the ball in the 19th minute. Serafim Novaes kicked well hit freekick during the 19th minute of the match. Borussia Juniors's Giovani Penha played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Juninho Bastos in the 21st minute of play. João Peixoto's late challenge caught a Lentilha FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Juninho Bastos in the 25th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Giovani Penha prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Juarês Mello had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Célio Fantini fell near the penalty area in the 31st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Borussia Juniors's protests and gave Célio Fantini a yellow card for diving instead. In a very dangerous position, a player in Borussia Juniors fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 31st minute. Penalty! Giovani Penha had in the 33rdth minute some difficulties stopping Bruno Abraão's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. After some careless play in the Borussia Juniors defense, Bruno Abraão kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Giovani Penha. The Borussia Juniors fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Giovani Penha should have stopped the shot. Deivid Barbosa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Juninho Bastos to strike the kick off in the second half. Giovani Penha took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Juarês Mello, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 52 minutes, Manuel Melo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Borussia Juniors and the Lentilha FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Manuel Melo kicked well hit freekick during the 52nd minute of the match. If Erik Tavares had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Borussia Juniors's zone, Juarês Mello stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Giovani Penha came out of the goal and Juarês Mello tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Erik Tavares in the 71st minute of play forced Lentilha FC's goalkeeper Luís Fabiano Guedes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 72nd minute, Juarês Mello managed to get in a good position for a shot. Lentilha FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Juarês Mello was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Giovani Penha breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Erik Tavares fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luís Fabiano Guedes having to interfere. A collision led to Lentilha FC getting a freekick after 77 minutes play. Adrianinho Velloso hit a great ball. 79 minutes into the match, Borussia Juniors's goal looked a bit too open when Juninho Bastos came free, but Giovani Penha reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 86 played minutes Lentilha FC got a freekick which was hit by Juarês Mello. Erik Tavares received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 88th minute. Luís Fabiano Guedes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Luís Fabiano Guedes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vitinho de Andrade, who was totally free with the ball in the 90th minute. In the 94th minute, Juarês Mello got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Borussia Juniors's Giovani Penha played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Carlos Alberto Travassos in the 97th minute of play. When the match was over Lentilha FC could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Borussia Juniors throughout the match.
