Erik Tavares blasted a shot towards the goal in the 2nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Manfredo Teixeira having to make a save. Butio's Benjamim Donatello got a good chance for a goal in the 6th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Giovani Penha stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Betão Freitas's shot from short distance in the 10th minute. After 13 played minutes Butio got a freekick which was hit by Hélder da Rocha. Borussia Juniors's Giovani Penha played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Betão Freitas in the 16th minute of play. When Antônio Dante fell near the penalty area in the 17th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Butio's protests and gave Antônio Dante a yellow card for diving instead. Antônio Dante hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. Erik Tavares received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Manfredo Teixeira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Vitinho de Andrade had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Vitinho de Andrade received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. Manfredo Teixeira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Hélder da Rocha hit a great freekick 27 minutes into the match. If Benjamim Donatello had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Benjamim Donatello recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 34th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 41st minute, Butio's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Erik Tavares fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. If Benjamim Donatello had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Erik Tavares stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After a defensive mix-up in Borussia Juniors's zone, Benjamim Donatello stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Giovani Penha came out of the goal and Benjamim Donatello tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 74 minutes into the game, Vitinho de Andrade was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Borussia Juniors's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Butio the free kick. In the 74th minute, Vitinho de Andrade hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 78th minute Betão Freitas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Giovani Penha saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 79th minute, Benjamim Donatello managed to get in a good position for a shot. Butio's supporters rose to their feet, but Benjamim Donatello was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Giovani Penha breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Betão Freitas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Giovani Penha having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Erik Tavares's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Manfredo Teixeira was relentless in the 85th minute of the game. Delfim Vieira's late challenge caught a Borussia Juniors's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Delfim Vieira helped the player get up and apologised. After some fancy dribbling in the 89th minute, Erik Tavares managed to get in a good position for a shot. Borussia Juniors's supporters rose to their feet, but Erik Tavares was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post.
