When Durval de Almeida fell near the penalty area in the 39th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Joanesia AD's protests and gave Durval de Almeida a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Joanesia AD getting a freekick after 39 minutes play. Durval de Almeida hit a great ball. Marcos Arruda sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Romeu Velasco was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Cauã Matos showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 45 minute of play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Jano Medeiros stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Cauã Matos might have been able to make a better finish in the 56th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Romeu Velasco. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Cauã Matos ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 59th minute Cauã Matos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Romeu Velasco saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jano Medeiros took the ball and in the 63 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Paulo José Abreu. Paulo José Abreu dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. Joanesia AD's Paulo José Abreu proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 69th minute of the match, managed to save Joanesia AD from getting a goal against them. Jano Medeiros sent away a hard shot on goal in the 71st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jano Medeiros got free with Paulo José Abreu in the 75th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 76th match minute, Joanesia AD was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Durval de Almeida to maneuver through the defense.
