The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Edgar Costa showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Expresso Antares FC's Hélder Hoffmann got a good chance for a goal in the 15th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Amílton Lara made a fantastic save in the 18th minute, when Valdir Tinoco sent off a good shot on target. After 19 played minutes Expresso Antares FC got a freekick which was hit by Ademar Quadros. 22 minutes into the game, Hélder Hoffmann cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Edgar Costa was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After some careless play in the C R Flamengo defense, Hélder Hoffmann kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Edgar Costa. The C R Flamengo fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Edgar Costa should have stopped the shot. In the 29th minute of the match, Valdir Tinoco got a very nice opportunity to score, but Amílton Lara was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. 31 minutes into the match, C R Flamengo's goal looked a bit too open when João Augusto Negri came free, but Edgar Costa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ademar Quadros sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in C R Flamengo's zone, Hélder Hoffmann stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Edgar Costa came out of the goal and Hélder Hoffmann tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 43rd minute, Hélder Hoffmann managed to get in a good position for a shot. Expresso Antares FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Hélder Hoffmann was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Edgar Costa breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by João Augusto Negri in the 44th minute of play forced C R Flamengo's goalkeeper Edgar Costa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Expresso Antares FC's Amílton Lara proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 46th minute of the match, managed to save Expresso Antares FC from getting a goal against them.
