When Rômulo de Queiroz fell near the penalty area in the 13th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Itirussu FC's protests and gave Rômulo de Queiroz a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Itirussu FC's Rômulo de Queiroz got a free kick in the 13th minute. Nelson Sousa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hélder Hoffmann in the 25th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Hélder Hoffmann in the 30th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Nelson Sousa saved Itirussu FC from getting behind. After having played for 33 minutes, Hélder Hoffmann managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Expresso Antares FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Hélder Hoffmann was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Nelson Sousa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Pedro Rocha, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Hélder Hoffmann had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 47 minutes into the match, Itirussu FC's goal looked a bit too open when Hélder Hoffmann came free, but Nelson Sousa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The Itirussu FC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Expresso Antares FC were winning 0-1.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Hélder Hoffmann was the one to do the kick off. Hélder Hoffmann did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 0-2 to the left of a surprised Nelson Sousa 53 minutes into the match. In the 80th minute Expresso Antares FC were awarded a corner. Hélder Hoffmann went to the cornerflag to take it. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hélder Hoffmann in the 85th minute of play forced Itirussu FC's goalkeeper Nelson Sousa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Itirussu FC's zone, João Augusto Negri stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nelson Sousa came out of the goal and João Augusto Negri tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Nelson Sousa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luizão Bezerra in the 91st minute of the match. Hélder Hoffmann received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 92nd minute. Nelson Sousa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 94 minutes, Charles Gaúcho managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Expresso Antares FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Charles Gaúcho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 96 minutes into the match, Itirussu FC's goalkeeper Nelson Sousa had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Hélder Hoffmann. Expresso Antares FC's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
