Spectators: 7231 (Terracing: 5425, Seating: 1663, VIP seats: 143) Atlético Baiano were furious when Amauri Hermes was red carded, 9 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. In the 9th minute, one of Atlético Baiano:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Atlético Baiano. After some careless play in the Atlético Baiano defense, Celso Rosa kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Noel Furtado. The Atlético Baiano fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Noel Furtado should have stopped the shot. In the 18th minute the ball was on its way in behind Novo Hamburgo's goalkeeper Jan Pająk, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. It was a well-played corner which João Paulo Peres managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. 25 minutes into the match, Novo Hamburgo's Dorival Pinheiro sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Noel Furtado narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Atlético Baiano's Noel Furtado played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dorival Pinheiro in the 27th minute of play. Celso Rosa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Noel Furtado having to interfere. Noel Furtado showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dorival Pinheiro, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. If Celso Rosa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 38th minute, Dorival Pinheiro got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Celso Rosa struck a weak shot in the 41st minute. Noel Furtado didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Novo Hamburgo. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Dorival Pinheiro to make the kick off. Noel Furtado took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Celso Rosa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Dorival Pinheiro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 53rd minute. Noel Furtado tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 60 minutes into the game, Novo Hamburgo's Celso Rosa nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Noel Furtado made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-0. 68 minutes into the match, Dorival Pinheiro had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Noel Furtado. Atlético Baiano's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Dorival Pinheiro was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 5-0. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Celso Rosa in the 71st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Noel Furtado prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Túlio Leão hit a great freekick 71 minutes into the match. If Dorival Pinheiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 79th minute Atlético Baiano were awarded a corner. Afonsinho Pontes went to the cornerflag to take it. Afonsinho Pontes made a great header on Atlético Baiano's corner, it was just that Novo Hamburgo's Jan Pająk managed to reach the ball for a save. Celso Rosa struck a weak shot in the 82nd minute. Noel Furtado didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Novo Hamburgo. Noel Furtado showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dorival Pinheiro in the 83rd minute of the match. 84 minutes into the match, Dorival Pinheiro notched a goal, 6-0, to the right of Atlético Baiano's Noel Furtado. Noel Furtado was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. When the match clock showed 88 minutes, the score became 7-0 when Celso Rosa sped through Atlético Baiano's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Noel Furtado. When Túlio Leão fell near the penalty area in the 96th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Atlético Baiano's protests and gave Túlio Leão a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Atlético Baiano getting a freekick after 96 minutes play. Túlio Leão hit a great ball. Novo Hamburgo's Lino Negri couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 97th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Atlético Baiano. When the referee ended the match the Novo Hamburgo players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
