Spectators: 6673 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1673, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Abel Nunes got the match started through his kick off. Macieira's Michel de Toledo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Júlio Miranda in the 5th minute of play. When Víktor Barreto came up free with the goalie in the 7th minute, the Goias E. C. fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Víktor Barreto couldn't finish the play. Valério Ferreira showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Abel Nunes in the 10th minute of the match. If Abel Nunes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Michel de Toledo stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Júlio Miranda's shot from short distance in the 19th minute. Michel de Toledo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Júlio Miranda, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. Michel de Toledo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Júlio Miranda, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Michel de Toledo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Víktor Barreto in the 30th minute of the match. The supporters of Macieira booed when Goias E. C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Glauco Prata didn't get a good kick on the ball. Abel Nunes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Víktor Barreto fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Michel de Toledo having to interfere. If Faustão Machado had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Abel Nunes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Valério Ferreira having to interfere. Víktor Barreto fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Michel de Toledo having to interfere. Jardel Campidelis hit a great freekick 46 minutes into the match. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Júlio Miranda was the one to do the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Júlio Miranda in the 55th minute of play forced Macieira's goalkeeper Michel de Toledo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Cláudio Romero charged in rather forcefully in the 67th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Cláudio Romero the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Goias E. C.'s Cláudio Romero got a free kick in the 67th minute. In a very dangerous position, a player in Macieira fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 70th minute. Penalty! In the 72nd minute there was a penalty for Goias E. C.. Sidnei de Godoi stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Michel de Toledo. 0-1. 75 minutes into the game, Serginho Travassos was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Macieira's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Goias E. C. the free kick. A collision led to Macieira getting a freekick after 75 minutes play. Serginho Travassos hit a great ball. After recieving a nice pass, Goias E. C.'s Sidnei de Godoi tried to score from far away in the 76th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. With an all-out effort, Goias E. C.'s Michel de Toledo threw himself towards the right post 79 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Júlio Miranda, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Júlio Miranda recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 81st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Macieira's Michel de Toledo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Júlio Miranda in the 84th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Macieira's zone, Júlio Miranda stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Michel de Toledo came out of the goal and Júlio Miranda tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 87th minute, Jeremias Monteiro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Goias E. C. were awarded a corner in the 90th minute after Macieira's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Sidnei de Godoi took the corner. It was a well-played corner which Mário Bertassi managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. 94 minutes into the match, Víktor Barreto had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Michel de Toledo. Macieira's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Víktor Barreto was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. The Macieira fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Goias E. C. were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
