When Célio Cunha came up free with the goalie in the 12th minute, the Helmet HC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Célio Cunha couldn't finish the play. If Orlando Guimarães had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Mamonas Assassinas's zone, Célio Cunha stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Maicon Branco came out of the goal and Célio Cunha tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Célio Cunha had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Abel Correia stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of José Maria França's shot from short distance in the 21st minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 23rd minute, Célio Cunha managed to get in a good position for a shot. Helmet HC's supporters rose to their feet, but Célio Cunha was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Maicon Branco breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Mamonas Assassinas's Maicon Branco proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 25th minute of the match, managed to save Mamonas Assassinas from getting a goal against them. 27 minutes into the match, Mamonas Assassinas's goalkeeper Maicon Branco had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Orlando Guimarães. Célio Cunha's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Maicon Branco read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 30th minute of play. Helmet HC's Abel Correia played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by José Maria França in the 33rd minute of play. 37 minutes into the match, Mamonas Assassinas's goal looked a bit too open when Célio Cunha came free, but Maicon Branco reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Chico Ferreira's late challenge caught a Helmet HC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Chico Ferreira helped the player get up and apologised. Chico Ferreira hit a great freekick 38 minutes into the match. If Lúcio Ferraz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for José Maria França to strike the kick off in the second half. Lúcio Ferraz recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 51st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 52 played minutes Helmet HC got a freekick which was hit by Joaquim Koehler. Maicon Branco took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Célio Cunha, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Téo Pitta hit a great freekick 63 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Célio Cunha in the 66th minute of play forced Mamonas Assassinas's goalkeeper Maicon Branco to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by José Maria França in the 69th minute of play forced Helmet HC's goalkeeper Abel Correia to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 71 minutes into the match, Helmet HC's goal looked a bit too open when José Maria França came free, but Abel Correia reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The referee ignored Helmet HC's protests and gave Joaquim Koehler a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Helmet HC's Joaquim Koehler got a free kick in the 85th minute. With a little luck, Helmet HC's Abel Correia got control of the ball when Lúcio Ferraz tried to sneak it across the goal line.
