The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. After having played for 19 minutes, Dagoberto Moreira managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Pilares's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dagoberto Moreira was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Benedito Vidal might have been able to make a better finish in the 36th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Percival Capixaba. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Benedito Vidal ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 37th minute, Benedito Vidal got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 45th minute, Luís Fábio de Andrade got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. A collision led to Nespol getting a freekick after 48 minutes play. Magno de Alcântara hit a great ball. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

In the 53rd match minute, Pilares was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sandrinho Rocha to maneuver through the defense. Dagoberto Moreira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Cléberson Teixeira came out of the goal in the 59th minute to try and stop a shot by Pilares's Dagoberto Moreira. But to his dismay, Dagoberto Moreira quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. Nespol's Cléberson Teixeira played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Geovani Correia in the 64th minute of play. Pilares's Deivid Pimenta got a good chance for a goal in the 78th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 82nd minute, Nespol's Luís Fábio de Andrade ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Percival Capixaba. Percival Capixaba yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-1. Thanks to some nice moves Luís Fábio de Andrade could shoot a difficult shot in the 89th minute, which Percival Capixaba however easily saved by the left post. After 94 played minutes Benedito Vidal rounded Pilares's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 1-2.
