Nespol's Benedito Vidal got a good chance for a goal in the 17th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Cléberson Teixeira made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from José Carlos Campidelis in the 22nd minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Bruno de Lima during the 24th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 24th minute, Bruno de Lima hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 28th match minute, Nespol was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dalmo Esteves to maneuver through the defense. In the 29th minute of the match Wellington de Brito sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Cléberson Teixeira skillfully saved the ball. Angelo Pereira came out of the goal in the 30th minute to try and stop a shot by Nespol's Luís Fábio de Andrade. But to his dismay, Luís Fábio de Andrade quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. Adhemar Dionísio's late challenge caught a Atlético Piauiense's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Adhemar Dionísio helped the player get up and apologised. After 35 played minutes Nespol got a freekick which was hit by Adhemar Dionísio. Waldemar Breckenfeld sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Luís Fábio de Andrade struck a weak shot in the 44th minute. Angelo Pereira didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Nespol.

Angelo Pereira made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Benedito Vidal in the 53rd minute of play. If Waldemar Breckenfeld had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Benedito Vidal received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 64th minute. Angelo Pereira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Atlético Piauiense booed when Nespol was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 71 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dalmo Esteves didn't get a good kick on the ball. Angelo Pereira showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Benedito Vidal in the 75th minute of the match. Cauan Souza was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 78th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. After 81 minutes of play Nespol's Bruno de Lima was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. When José Carlos Campidelis came up free with the goalie in the 84th minute, the Atlético Piauiense fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that José Carlos Campidelis couldn't finish the play. With a little luck, Nespol's Cléberson Teixeira got control of the ball when Waldemar Breckenfeld tried to sneak it across the goal line.
