Luís Eduardo Maciel fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 2nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Carlos Fernando Nascimento having to interfere. Águia Dourada F.C.'s José Maria Tinoco played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tiago Siqueira in the 4th minute of play. Luís Eduardo Maciel recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 16th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Sandrinho Sá had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Sandrinho Sá's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 23rdth minute, Carlos Fernando Nascimento skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. 24 minutes into the match, Athletico Paranaense's goalkeeper Carlos Fernando Nascimento had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Luís Eduardo Maciel. After 28 played minutes Águia Dourada F.C. got a freekick which was hit by Amauri Mendonça. After some careless play in the Águia Dourada F.C. defense, Ronaldão de Azevedo kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of José Maria Tinoco. The Águia Dourada F.C. fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that José Maria Tinoco should have stopped the shot. In the 32nd minute, Tomás Cearense hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Germano Furlan was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 33rd played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. When Manuel Loyola fell near the penalty area in the 34th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Athletico Paranaense's protests and gave Manuel Loyola a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Athletico Paranaense getting a freekick after 34 minutes play. Manuel Loyola hit a great ball. Carlos Fernando Nascimento showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fernandinho Ceresso, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fernandinho Ceresso in the 38th minute of play forced Athletico Paranaense's goalkeeper Carlos Fernando Nascimento to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Athletico Paranaense's Manuel Loyola got a free kick in the 43rd minute. In the 46th minute, Fernandinho Ceresso made a precise shot to the right of Carlos Fernando Nascimento. Athletico Paranaense's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Sandrinho Sá to strike the kick off in the second half. Ronaldão de Azevedo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 54th minute of the match, but José Maria Tinoco made a huge save. Fernandinho Ceresso recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 56th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 56 minutes into the match, Sandrinho Sá notched a goal, 2-1, to the right of Athletico Paranaense's Carlos Fernando Nascimento. Carlos Fernando Nascimento was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Fernandinho Ceresso blasted a shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Carlos Fernando Nascimento having to make a save. The Águia Dourada F.C. fans' excitement grew in the 64th match minute when Águia Dourada F.C.'s Sandrinho Sá looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 3-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Carlos Fernando Nascimento made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luís Eduardo Maciel in the 72nd minute of play. The audience was convinced that Fernandinho Ceresso's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Carlos Fernando Nascimento was relentless in the 78th minute of the game. When Manuel Loyola was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 80 minutes had been played. Manuel Loyola kicked well hit freekick during the 83rd minute of the match. Carlos Fernando Nascimento made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Giovani Paranaense in the 88th minute of play. The audience was convinced that Giovani Paranaense's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Carlos Fernando Nascimento was relentless in the 90th minute of the game. The supporters of Águia Dourada F.C. booed when Athletico Paranaense was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 96 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marcus Cabral didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the referee ended the match the Águia Dourada F.C. players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
