Benjamin Monteiro dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Ronaldão de Azevedo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benjamin Monteiro having to interfere. When Nova Santa Rosa FC's Lino Cavalcante in the 31st minute got a chance for a shot 31st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Athletico Paranaense's goalie prevented a goal. In the 35thth minute of the game Marcus Cabral who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Nova Santa Rosa FC's Benjamin Monteiro was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Basílio de Moraes recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 40th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 44 minutes into the match, Orlando Ceresso dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Carlos Fernando Nascimento, 1-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Marcus Cabral to make the kick off. Orlando Ceresso blasted a shot towards the goal in the 51st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Carlos Fernando Nascimento having to make a save. Carlos Fernando Nascimento made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Basílio de Moraes in the 52nd minute of play. Benjamin Monteiro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Marcus Cabral, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. After 69 minutes, Tiago Siqueira mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Athletico Paranaense and the Nova Santa Rosa FC players grew even worse after the yellow card.
