To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 9th match minute, The ShadyS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tomé de Queirós to maneuver through the defense. Fluminense FC's Laerte Borges got a good chance for a goal in the 10th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Tomé Jacinto was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 12 minutes into the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Juan Diniz in the 18th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Zé Pedro Donatello prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 19 minutes into the match, The ShadyS's goal looked a bit too open when Andrézinho de Sena came free, but Filipe Santos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 21st minute Haroldo Lucas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zé Pedro Donatello saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Filipe Santos didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 25th minute, which inside left pole to 2-0. Fluminense FC's Zé Pedro Donatello played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Haroldo Lucas in the 30th minute of play. 34 minutes into the game, Haroldo Lucas cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-1. The audience held their breath when Tomé de Queirós in the 46th minute of the game managed to trick the opponents defenses and fired away a shot outside the goal on the Zé Pedro Donatello's left hand side. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Juan Diniz stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 55 minutes into the match, Haroldo Lucas had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Zé Pedro Donatello. Fluminense FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Haroldo Lucas was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-2. In the 61st minute, Haroldo Lucas left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The The ShadyS fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-3. Haroldo Lucas could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 73rd minute of the match, but Zé Pedro Donatello made a huge save. Through an outstanding action, after 91 minutes, Zé Pedro Donatello successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched The ShadyS eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
