Gugu Teixeira made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. Marcelo Cunha scored 2-2 in the 30th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Gugu Teixeira, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Angelo Valadares kicked well hit freekick during the 34th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Goiãnia's Haroldo de Lima got a free kick in the 35th minute. In the 36th minute Murillo Marinho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gugu Teixeira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. José Vítor de Sena hit a great freekick 37 minutes into the match. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Murillo Marinho to make the kick off. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Haroldo de Lima in the 53rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Natanael Veiga saved Jouquarinha from getting behind. In the 55th minute André Luís Senna shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Natanael Veiga saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Murillo Marinho fell near the penalty area in the 59th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Jouquarinha's protests and gave Murillo Marinho a yellow card for diving instead. After 59 played minutes Jouquarinha got a freekick which was hit by Murillo Marinho. If Marcelo Cunha had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Marcelo Cunha could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 67th minute of the match, but Gugu Teixeira made a huge save. An unexpectedly hard shot by André Luís Senna in the 71st minute of play forced Jouquarinha's goalkeeper Natanael Veiga to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Aloísio das Neves during the 78th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Jouquarinha getting a freekick after 78 minutes play. Aloísio das Neves hit a great ball. Gildo Alcântara sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Natanael Veiga didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from José Vítor de Sena went, in the 83rd minute, to the upper right corner, 5-2 was the resulting score. In the 91stth minute of the game José Carlos Paraibano who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Jouquarinha's Natanael Veiga was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Natanael Veiga showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from José Carlos Paraibano, who was totally free with the ball in the 93rd minute. Goiãnia's José Vítor de Sena got a good chance for a goal in the 94th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If André Luís Senna had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Goiãnia walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
