After a rather tough play, PODEROSO LEAO's Silvério Cavalcante got a free kick in the 5th minute. Carlos Alberto Galvão fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Arlindo Nascimento having to interfere. A hard shot 11 in the game by Júlio Lima from a close distance when the talented Ronaldo Sarmento managed to make a qualified save. Fontinha's players were relieved. Ronaldo Sarmento was out of position in the 12 minute of play, and Dalmo Brodel capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Dalmo Brodel really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. In the 20th minute, Sérgio Torres ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Arlindo Nascimento was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Carlos Alberto Galvão in the 26th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Arlindo Nascimento prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Júlio Lima received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Ronaldo Sarmento tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 29th minute the ball was on its way in behind Fontinha's goalkeeper Ronaldo Sarmento, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Arlindo Nascimento didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Sérgio Torres went, in the 34th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. PODEROSO LEAO's Arlindo Nascimento played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Carlos Alberto Galvão in the 39th minute of play. 42 minutes into the match, PODEROSO LEAO's Júlio Lima sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Ronaldo Sarmento narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Dalmo Brodel fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ronaldo Sarmento having to interfere. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Carlos Alberto Galvão made the kick off in the second half. Arlindo Nascimento made a fantastic save in the 51st minute, when Sérgio Torres sent off a good shot on target. Fontinha's Ronaldo Sarmento played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dalmo Brodel in the 58th minute of play. Silvério Cavalcante sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Horácio Velloso took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 67th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Ronaldo Sarmento. Fontinha's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Sérgio Torres fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Arlindo Nascimento having to interfere. Ronaldo Sarmento took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Silvério Cavalcante, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a defensive mix-up in Fontinha's zone, Júlio Lima stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ronaldo Sarmento came out of the goal and Júlio Lima tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The audience was convinced that Dalmo Brodel's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ronaldo Sarmento was relentless in the 87th minute of the game. Tales Passos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ronaldo Sarmento having to interfere. When Dalmo Brodel came up free with the goalie in the 95th minute, the PODEROSO LEAO fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dalmo Brodel couldn't finish the play.
