Aparecidense AA's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. After 11 minutes of play, Aparecidense AA's Marcus Netto made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Ronaldo Sarmento was left in no man's land by his defense there! Ronaldo Sarmento made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marcus Netto in the 16th minute of play. Tony França struck a weak shot in the 17th minute. Ronaldo Sarmento didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Aparecidense AA. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Marcus Netto in the 25th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ronaldo Sarmento saved Fontinha from getting behind. In the 28thth minute of the game Marcus Netto who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Fontinha's Ronaldo Sarmento was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The audience was convinced that Marcus Netto's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ronaldo Sarmento was relentless in the 29th minute of the game. Ronaldo Sarmento took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tony França, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 32 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. Fontinha's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Marcus Netto was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-3. Ronaldo Sarmento showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Marcus Netto, who was totally free with the ball in the 43rd minute. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 44th minute of the game. One of Fontinha:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Aparecidense AA:s goal. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-4.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Carlos Alberto Galvão was the one to do the kick off. Fontinha's Ronaldo Sarmento proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 54th minute of the match, managed to save Fontinha from getting a goal against them. In the 56th minute Aparecidense AA were awarded a corner. Erivaldo Miranda went to the cornerflag to take it. Ronaldo Sarmento stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Marcus Netto's shot from short distance in the 57th minute. When Tales Vasconcelos fell near the penalty area in the 58th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Fontinha's protests and gave Tales Vasconcelos a yellow card for diving instead. Tales Vasconcelos kicked well hit freekick during the 58th minute of the match. A collision led to Fontinha getting a freekick after 64 minutes play. Chicão Machado hit a great ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Marcus Netto in the 66th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ronaldo Sarmento saved Fontinha from getting behind. When Ediberto Alcântara fell near the penalty area in the 79th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Aparecidense AA's protests and gave Ediberto Alcântara a yellow card for diving instead. After 80 played minutes Aparecidense AA got a freekick which was hit by Ediberto Alcântara. After having played for 81 minutes, Marcus Netto managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Aparecidense AA's supporters crossed their fingers, but Marcus Netto was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Fontinha's zone, Tony França stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ronaldo Sarmento came out of the goal and Tony França tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Tales Vasconcelos kicked well hit freekick during the 85th minute of the match. After 86 played minutes Fontinha got a freekick which was hit by Zé Augusto Furtado. Marcus Netto scored 1-6 in the 87th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Ronaldo Sarmento, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Marcus Netto received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Ronaldo Sarmento tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 92 minutes in the game, Tony França fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Ronaldo Sarmento having to interfere. In the 96th minute, Carlos Alberto Galvão hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When the final whistle sounded Aparecidense AA left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Fontinha.
