Jeremias Donato fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Carlos Fernando Furlan having to interfere. Romário Maranhense took the ball and in the 22 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Nunez Chuse. Nunez Chuse dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-3. When Duda Romero fell near the penalty area in the 26th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored NIP F.C's protests and gave Duda Romero a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to NIP F.C getting a freekick after 26 minutes play. Duda Romero hit a great ball. Nunez Chuse took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Aírton Vides, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 36 minutes into the match, Adam Roşu dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Carlos Fernando Furlan, 2-3. Romário Maranhense fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nunez Chuse having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Duda Romero in the 44th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Nunez Chuse saved Feijo from getting behind. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 2-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

In the 54th minute, one of NIP F.C:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for NIP F.C. Carlos Fernando Furlan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Codruț Oblemenco in the 60th minute of the match. Nunez Chuse made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Duda Romero in the 61st minute of play. Percy Pernambucano sent away a hard shot on goal in the 62nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some careless play in the NIP F.C defense, Adam Roşu kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Carlos Fernando Furlan. The NIP F.C fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Carlos Fernando Furlan should have stopped the shot. Kaká Sergipano sent away a hard shot on goal in the 71st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Duda Romero in the 73rd minute of play forced Feijo's goalkeeper Nunez Chuse to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Duda Romero kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Nunez Chuse. That made the score 4-4 in the 76 minute of play. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
