Spectators: 6663 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1663, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Laerte Soares got the match started through his kick off. Eugênio Arce made an important save on a dangerous shot by Lauro Dias in the 4th minute. When Laerte Soares came up free with the goalie in the 5th minute, the Vazantes fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Laerte Soares couldn't finish the play. In the 12th minute, Amílton da Fonseca got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 13th minute, Amílton da Fonseca hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Eugênio Arce was out of position in the 29 minute of play, and Laerte Soares capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Laerte Soares really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. After a rather tough play, Vazantes's Serginho Cerezo got a free kick in the 33rd minute. Leonel Gaspar took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cléber da Silveira, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Eugênio Arce was a little too slow when Laerte Soares got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 40th minute. The score was now 2-0. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

The wind increased when Amílton da Fonseca made the kick off in the second half. Délio Viana's late challenge caught a Rona's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Délio Viana helped the player get up and apologised. Amílton da Fonseca's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 55thth minute, Leonel Gaspar skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. The crowd rose to their feet as Rona's Amílton da Fonseca slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Leonel Gaspar. That made the score 2-1 after 59 minutes of play. A collision led to Vazantes getting a freekick after 67 minutes play. Sílvio Luiz Mandrak hit a great ball. A hard shot 68 in the game by Amílton da Fonseca from a close distance when the talented Leonel Gaspar managed to make a qualified save. Vazantes's players were relieved. After a rather tough play, Rona's Reginaldo Martins got a free kick in the 69th minute. Leonel Gaspar stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Amílton da Fonseca's shot from short distance in the 71st minute. Cléber da Silveira struck a weak shot in the 76th minute. Leonel Gaspar didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Rona. Cléber da Silveira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 79th minute. Leonel Gaspar tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a little luck, Vazantes's Leonel Gaspar got control of the ball when Cléber da Silveira tried to sneak it across the goal line. Amílton da Fonseca fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Leonel Gaspar having to interfere. Cléber da Silveira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Rona's Eugênio Arce played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lauro Dias in the 90th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Vazantes's zone, Cléber da Silveira stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Leonel Gaspar came out of the goal and Cléber da Silveira tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The Vazantes players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
