The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. If Laerte Soares had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 5th minute. After 22 minutes of play, SC SCAFF UNITED's Raí Vaz made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Leonel Gaspar showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Claudinei Dracena, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. Raí Vaz's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Leonel Gaspar read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 30th minute of play. In the 36th minute, Claudinei Dracena got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 37th match minute, Vazantes was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sílvio Luiz Mandrak to maneuver through the defense. When Laerte Soares fell near the penalty area in the 63rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Vazantes's protests and gave Laerte Soares a yellow card for diving instead. Raí Vaz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Leonel Gaspar made an important save on a dangerous shot by Raí Vaz in the 68th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Claudinei Dracena in the 71st managed to get into a good position. After having played for 93 minutes, Raí Vaz managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. SC SCAFF UNITED's supporters crossed their fingers, but Raí Vaz was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Sílvio Luiz Passos's late challenge caught a Vazantes's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Sílvio Luiz Passos helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Vazantes booed when SC SCAFF UNITED was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 94 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sílvio Luiz Passos didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the final whistle sounded SC SCAFF UNITED left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Vazantes.
