Magno Brito made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gualter Lima in the 18th minute of play. Luís de Barros received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. Fred Fontes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 40th minute, Luís de Barros got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Despite this Magno Brito quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Laércio Moraes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Remo Chaves kicked well hit freekick during the 71st minute of the match. Luís de Barros sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Rubros's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Gualter Lima 76 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 0-1.
