Laércio Moraes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ediberto Paraibano having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luís de Barros in the 11th minute of play forced Sete Pecados Capitais's goalkeeper Ediberto Paraibano to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Paulão Trevisan got free with Magno Brito in the 14th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Magno Brito made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lino Amorim in the 20th minute of play. Sydney Mattos took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 23rd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Ediberto Paraibano. Sete Pecados Capitais's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Ediberto Paraibano made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luís de Barros in the 24th minute of play. Luís de Barros struck a weak shot in the 30th minute. Ediberto Paraibano didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Rubros. Ediberto Paraibano showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Laércio Moraes in the 31st minute of the match. In the 39th match minute, Rubros was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Oséias Favoretto to maneuver through the defense. In the 42nd minute Sete Pecados Capitais were awarded a corner. Humberto Secco went to the cornerflag to take it. After a rather tough play, Rubros's Kléber Tinoco got a free kick in the 44th minute. After the first half Rubros were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Lino Amorim stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. If Paulão Trevisan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. When Paulão Trevisan came up free with the goalie in the 56th minute, the Sete Pecados Capitais fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Paulão Trevisan couldn't finish the play. Paulão Trevisan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Magno Brito tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Laércio Moraes who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 87thth minute tested the skills of Ediberto Paraibano when he managed to save the team from getting behind. If Laércio Moraes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Rubros supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Rubros would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
