When Iparanga's Roberto Carneiro in the 10th minute got a chance for a shot 10th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Alemquer EC's goalie prevented a goal. Iparanga's Fernandinho Catarinense proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 16th minute of the match, managed to save Iparanga from getting a goal against them. The supporters of Alemquer EC booed when Iparanga was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Paulo Renato de Almeida didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Roberto Carneiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ronaldão Matos got free with Fernandinho Catarinense in the 31st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Ronaldão Matos received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Fernandinho Catarinense tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Conrado do Vale recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 34th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After having played for 40 minutes, Conrado do Vale managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Alemquer EC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Conrado do Vale was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 41st match minute, Iparanga was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dênis Velloso to maneuver through the defense. In the 44th minute Alemquer EC were awarded a corner. Claudinho Medeiros went to the cornerflag to take it. A nice corner shot did that Frank Berger got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Fernandinho Catarinense quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Conrado do Vale was the one to do the kick off. Iparanga's Fernandinho Catarinense played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Conrado do Vale in the 54th minute of play. After 55 minutes of play Iparanga's Paulo Renato de Almeida was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. Paulo Renato de Almeida kicked well hit freekick during the 56th minute of the match. Fernandinho Catarinense showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Conrado do Vale, who was totally free with the ball in the 64th minute. Fernandinho Catarinense made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ronaldão Matos in the 70th minute of play. When Ronaldão Matos came up free with the goalie in the 72nd minute, the Alemquer EC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ronaldão Matos couldn't finish the play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ronaldão Matos in the 76th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Fernandinho Catarinense saved Iparanga from getting behind. When Conrado do Vale came up free with the goalie in the 79th minute, the Alemquer EC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Conrado do Vale couldn't finish the play. Luís Fábio Brodel's late challenge caught a Iparanga's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Luís Fábio Brodel helped the player get up and apologised. Luís Fábio Brodel hit a great freekick 94 minutes into the match. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
