Cláudio Tasso hit a great freekick 2 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in Filadelfia SC's zone, Osvaldinho Sanches stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Adrianinho Matorin came out of the goal and Osvaldinho Sanches tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Kaimo Äss received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 9th minute. Adrianinho Matorin tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Adrianinho Matorin showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kaimo Äss, who was totally free with the ball in the 19th minute. 20 minutes into the match, Fortaleza's Jarbas Lira sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Adrianinho Matorin narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 30th minute, Josué Baiano got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Jarbas Lira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 38th minute, Kaimo Äss managed to get in a good position for a shot. Fortaleza's supporters rose to their feet, but Kaimo Äss was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Adrianinho Matorin breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Natã Galvão blasted a shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Adrianinho Matorin having to make a save. Adrianinho Matorin stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Kaimo Äss's shot from short distance in the 46th minute. Kaimo Äss sent away a hard shot on goal in the 48th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Adrianinho Matorin was a little too slow when Kaimo Äss got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 53rd minute. The score was now 0-2. After some careless play in the Filadelfia SC defense, Kaimo Äss kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Adrianinho Matorin. The Filadelfia SC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Adrianinho Matorin should have stopped the shot. 67 minutes into the game, Kaimo Äss recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Adrianinho Matorin. Kaimo Äss showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-4. In the 72nd minute, Cauã Silva hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 75th minute Kaimo Äss shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Adrianinho Matorin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Natã Galvão came up free with the goalie in the 77th minute, the Fortaleza fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Natã Galvão couldn't finish the play. The supporters of Filadelfia SC booed when Fortaleza was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 83 match minutes in a wonderful position. Natã Galvão didn't get a good kick on the ball. Kaimo Äss received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 86th minute. Adrianinho Matorin tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Kaimo Äss sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Fortaleza's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
