The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Bernardinho Santana during the 13th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Alfredão Arantes might have been able to make a better finish in the 47th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Fernandinho Catarinense. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Alfredão Arantes ran back to his position shaking his head. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Alfredão Arantes stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After 54 played minutes Toheroa got a freekick which was hit by Luciano Favoretto. After some fancy dribbling in the 59th minute, Roberto Carneiro managed to get in a good position for a shot. Iparanga's supporters rose to their feet, but Roberto Carneiro was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gil Simões breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Luciano Favoretto got his second yellow card in the match during the 64th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. In the 65th minute, Luciano Favoretto hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Gil Simões showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rodriguinho Marquez in the 67th minute of the match. Roberto Carneiro recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 68th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 75th minute, Rodriguinho Marquez got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Gil Simões was a little too slow when Rodriguinho Marquez got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 77th minute. The score was now 1-1. Roberto Carneiro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 80th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gil Simões having to interfere. The match ended in a draw.
