Manuel Miranda received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 21st minute. Álvaro Azevedo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Wilson Paiva made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Paulão Siqueira in the 31st minute of play. Clemente Torres fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Álvaro Azevedo having to interfere. A collision led to Catarina F.C. getting a freekick after 37 minutes play. Ademar Motta hit a great ball. Armandinho dos Santos hit a great freekick 39 minutes into the match. Álvaro Azevedo didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 43rd minute, which inside left pole to 1-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Clemente Torres to strike the kick off in the second half. A collision led to Catarina F.C. getting a freekick after 54 minutes play. After having played for 97 minutes, Clemente Torres managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Sassego's supporters crossed their fingers, but Clemente Torres was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 99th minute the ball was on its way in behind Catarina F.C.'s goalkeeper Álvaro Azevedo, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Sassego's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
