The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Nuno Teixeira kicked well hit freekick during the 3rd minute of the match. Sassego's Wilson Paiva played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Durvalino Vander in the 6th minute of play. If Gláuber Loyola had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 15 minutes, Durvalino Vander made it 0-1 with a short kick to the right side. Sassego's Wilson Paiva tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Nilmar Dionísio sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Durvalino Vander in the 30th minute of play forced Sassego's goalkeeper Wilson Paiva to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Manuel Miranda got free with Marcelo Meireles in the 32nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Clemente Torres during the 37th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 37th match minute, Sassego was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Clemente Torres to maneuver through the defense. Durvalino Vander fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Wilson Paiva having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Durvalino Vander in the 44th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Wilson Paiva saved Sassego from getting behind. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Vito Vargas during the 46th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Vito Vargas hit a great freekick 46 minutes into the match. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Durvalino Vander to make the kick off. Nilmar Dionísio struck a weak shot in the 52nd minute. Wilson Paiva didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Guaraquicaba. 53 minutes into the match, Guaraquicaba's goal looked a bit too open when Clemente Torres came free, but Marcelo Meireles reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a little luck, Sassego's Wilson Paiva got control of the ball when Gláuber Loyola tried to sneak it across the goal line. Gláuber Loyola fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Wilson Paiva having to interfere. In the 62nd minute Manuel Miranda shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marcelo Meireles saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 73rd match minute, Sassego was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by André Luiz Favoretto to maneuver through the defense. Gláuber Loyola received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 85th minute. Wilson Paiva tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Wilson Paiva made a fantastic save in the 87th minute, when Durvalino Vander sent off a good shot on target. Severino Tróia kicked well hit freekick during the 91st minute of the match. The Sassego supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Guaraquicaba's performance. The match ended with a win for Guaraquicaba.
