Vitório Lago's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Guilherme Guimarães read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 6th minute of play. The supporters of União Autódromo booed when Minas Novas FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 9 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eurico Veloso didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 12th minute, Vitório Lago hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Washington Donatello during the 13th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Matheus Zonta made a fantastic save in the 15th minute, when Osvaldo Messias sent off a good shot on target. Vitório Lago received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. Guilherme Guimarães tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. União Autódromo's Guilherme Guimarães played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Aílton Coelho in the 32nd minute of play. Aílton Coelho blasted a shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Guilherme Guimarães having to make a save. Minas Novas FC's Aílton Coelho got a good chance for a goal in the 42nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 47th minute Aílton Coelho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Guilherme Guimarães saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Vitório Lago was the one to do the kick off. Guilherme Guimarães made a fantastic save in the 55th minute, when Aílton Coelho sent off a good shot on target. Vitório Lago fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Guilherme Guimarães having to interfere. Sílvio Luiz Vargas recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 61st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Aílton Coelho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 67th minute. Guilherme Guimarães tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Aílton Coelho got free with Guilherme Guimarães in the 70th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Aílton Coelho came free with the goalkeeper in the 71st minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Guilherme Guimarães could save by the left post. 74 minutes into the match, União Autódromo's goal looked a bit too open when Vitório Lago came free, but Guilherme Guimarães reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Guilherme Guimarães showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vitório Lago, who was totally free with the ball in the 78th minute. Aílton Coelho's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Guilherme Guimarães firmly grabbed it by the left post. Aílton Coelho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Vitório Lago had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Sílvio Luiz Vargas during the 97th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Minas Novas FC's Sílvio Carneiro couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 98th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for União Autódromo. The Minas Novas FC players were the happier at the end of the match as they had prevented União Autódromo from taking control. The game ends in a draw.
