After recieving a nice pass, Montes Claros F.C's Eduardo Loureiro tried to score from far away in the 7th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. 9 minutes into the match, Montes Claros F.C's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferraz had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Horácio Nascimento. When Horácio Nascimento came up free with the goalie in the 12th minute, the Cheetara FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Horácio Nascimento couldn't finish the play. Tião Chaves kicked well hit freekick during the 15th minute of the match. After 16 played minutes, Montes Claros F.C's Eduardo Loureiro shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Gilvan Dracena came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Montes Claros F.C reached it. In the 20th minute, Alex da Silveira hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The audience thought a goal was coming when Horácio Nascimento got free with Jonathan Ferraz in the 29th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If Horácio Nascimento had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Simão Donato might have been able to make a better finish in the 39th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jonathan Ferraz. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Simão Donato ran back to his position shaking his head. Horácio Nascimento fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jonathan Ferraz having to interfere. Eduardo Loureiro was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 43 minutes into the match.

Jonathan Ferraz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Simão Donato, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. Horácio Nascimento's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jonathan Ferraz read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 57th minute of play. When Cheetara FC's Simão Donato in the 62nd minute got a chance for a shot 62nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Montes Claros F.C's goalie prevented a goal. In the 63rd minute, Simão Donato made a precise shot to the right of Jonathan Ferraz. Montes Claros F.C's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. When the match had gone on for 66 minutes, Horácio Nascimento put it in 2-0 from a short distance just to the right of Jonathan Ferraz. After a defensive mix-up in Montes Claros F.C's zone, Simão Donato stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jonathan Ferraz came out of the goal and Simão Donato tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 73rd minute, Diogo Arruda managed to get in a good position for a shot. Montes Claros F.C's supporters rose to their feet, but Diogo Arruda was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gilvan Dracena breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Horácio Nascimento fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jonathan Ferraz having to interfere. Simão Donato received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 80th minute. Jonathan Ferraz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Cheetara FC's Simão Donato got a good chance for a goal in the 85th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 89 minutes into the match, Horácio Nascimento had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jonathan Ferraz. Montes Claros F.C's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Horácio Nascimento was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-0. Horácio Nascimento struck a weak shot in the 94th minute. Jonathan Ferraz didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Cheetara FC. After a defensive mix-up in Cheetara FC's zone, Diogo Arruda stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gilvan Dracena came out of the goal and Diogo Arruda tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Cheetara FC walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
