Spectators: 7244 (Terracing: 5434, Seating: 1666, VIP seats: 144) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Marcinho de Alcântara started the match with the kick off. Rafinha Diniz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Valdir das Neves in the 12th minute of play. If Geraldo Ortiz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Valdir das Neves might have been able to make a better finish in the 17th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Rafinha Diniz. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Valdir das Neves ran back to his position shaking his head. An unexpectedly hard shot by Valdir das Neves in the 20th minute of play forced Varzeado's goalkeeper Rafinha Diniz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 20th minute, Artur Penha hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 25th minute Artur Penha shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sidnei Vale saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 29th minute, Valdir das Neves got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 32nd minute, Valdir das Neves ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Rafinha Diniz was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Rafinha Diniz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Raí Barreto in the 37th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Valdir das Neves in the 40th minute of play forced Varzeado's goalkeeper Rafinha Diniz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 41st minute, Daniel Teixeira managed to get in a good position for a shot. Governador Sarney FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Daniel Teixeira was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Rafinha Diniz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Didi Donato took the ball and in the 43 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Sidnei Vale. Sidnei Vale dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The wind increased when Valdir das Neves made the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the game, Artur Penha was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Varzeado's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Governador Sarney FC the free kick. In the 53rd match minute, Varzeado was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Artur Penha to maneuver through the defense. In the 56th minute, Governador Sarney FC's Valdir das Neves dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-2. When Hermínio Botelho fell near the penalty area in the 60th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Varzeado's protests and gave Hermínio Botelho a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Governador Sarney FC booed when Varzeado was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 60 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hermínio Botelho didn't get a good kick on the ball. Sidnei Vale came out of the goal in the 65th minute to try and stop a shot by Varzeado's Marcinho de Alcântara. But to his dismay, Marcinho de Alcântara quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-2. With his leg Rafinha Diniz managed to avoid a goal in the 71stth minute, when Governador Sarney FC's Valdir das Neves fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Valdir das Neves received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 73rd minute. Rafinha Diniz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Daniel Teixeira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Rafinha Diniz was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 76th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Natanael Souza. After 79 played minutes Varzeado got a freekick which was hit by Severino Barros. In the 83rd match minute, Governador Sarney FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Silvinho Siqueira to maneuver through the defense. Valdir das Neves who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 86thth minute tested the skills of Rafinha Diniz when he managed to save the team from getting behind. If Valdir das Neves had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Despite being the better team, Governador Sarney FC failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
