Spectators: 7201 (Terracing: 5402, Seating: 1656, VIP seats: 143) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Gabriel Capixaba took the kick off in the first half of the match. Umberto Velloso made a fantastic save in the 2nd minute, when Hermínio Botelho sent off a good shot on target. Umberto Velloso showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Marcinho de Alcântara in the 6th minute of the match. Gabriel Capixaba recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 9th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Umberto Velloso made an important save on a dangerous shot by Hermínio Botelho in the 14th minute. Hermínio Botelho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 17th minute. Umberto Velloso tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Hermínio Botelho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Umberto Velloso having to interfere. Gabriel Capixaba struck a weak shot in the 27th minute. Rafinha Diniz didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for AS Novelli. In the 28th match minute, Varzeado was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Leonel Meireles to maneuver through the defense. 32 minutes into the match, Hermínio Botelho had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Umberto Velloso. AS Novelli's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Hermínio Botelho was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. Marcinho de Alcântara sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to Varzeado getting a freekick after 45 minutes play. Dinei Berger hit a great ball. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Marcinho de Alcântara to strike the kick off in the second half. Marcinho de Alcântara sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Marcinho de Alcântara had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Umberto Velloso didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Marcinho de Alcântara went, in the 60th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-0 was the resulting score. In the 74th minute Hermínio Botelho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Umberto Velloso saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some careless play in the AS Novelli defense, Artur Penha kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Umberto Velloso. The AS Novelli fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Umberto Velloso should have stopped the shot. Varzeado's Hermínio Botelho got a good chance for a goal in the 81st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gabriel Capixaba in the 85th minute of play forced Varzeado's goalkeeper Rafinha Diniz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 89th minute, Jeferson Lago hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After having played for 90 minutes, Giuseppe Quirino managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Varzeado's supporters crossed their fingers, but Giuseppe Quirino was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Gabriel Capixaba scored 3-1 in the 94th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Rafinha Diniz, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Varzeado were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of AS Novelli for a fine match.
