Itumirim's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Olimpo Football Club the free kick. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Marcus Torres during the 10th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. 9 minutes into the game, one of Itumirim:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 20th minute Duarte da Silva shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Aírton Simão saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Manfredo Valladares scored 0-1 in the 22nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Aírton Simão, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Dito Pontes kicked well hit freekick during the 24th minute of the match. If Ulisses Nunes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Ulisses Nunes came up free with the goalie in the 33rd minute, the Olimpo Football Club fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ulisses Nunes couldn't finish the play. A collision led to Itumirim getting a freekick after 34 minutes play. Dito Pontes hit a great ball. In the 36th minute, Abelardo Leal got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 40th minute Manfredo Valladares shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Aírton Simão saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 41 minutes into the match, Itumirim's goal looked a bit too open when Ulisses Nunes came free, but Elias Gonçalves reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Olimpo Football Club booed when Itumirim was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marcus Torres didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Olimpo Football Club's zone, Manfredo Valladares stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Aírton Simão came out of the goal and Manfredo Valladares tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.

Olimpo Football Club's Aírton Simão played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Manfredo Valladares in the 55th minute of play. Celso Prado charged in rather forcefully in the 58th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. Manfredo Valladares fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Aírton Simão having to interfere. Dito Pontes hit a great freekick 89 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 94th minute, Percy Valadares managed to get in a good position for a shot. Olimpo Football Club's supporters rose to their feet, but Percy Valadares was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Elias Gonçalves breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Itumirim played a much better game than Olimpo Football Club and deserved their victory. The Olimpo Football Club players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
