Marcelinho Paraense sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Benê do Vale came up free with the goalie in the 28th minute, the C.A MATOGROSSENSE fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Benê do Vale couldn't finish the play. Marcelinho Paraense struck a weak shot in the 34th minute. Zé Roberto Valle didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for C.A MATOGROSSENSE. Zé Roberto Valle was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Marcelinho Paraense showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 2-1 in the 41 minute of play. If Wágner Freire had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 48th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Luís Linares to make the kick off. After 57 minutes, Vivaldo Magalhães mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Corinthians and the C.A MATOGROSSENSE players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 58th match minute, Corinthians was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Vivaldo Magalhães to maneuver through the defense. The audience cheered when Pedrinho Gaspar's long shot passed Zé Roberto Valle's right side. It was 3-1, 58 minutes into the match. Wágner Freire might have been able to make a better finish in the 62nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Luan Correia. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. A collision led to C.A MATOGROSSENSE getting a freekick after 74 minutes play. Jean da Fonseca hit a great ball. If Luís Linares had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a little luck, C.A MATOGROSSENSE's Luan Correia got control of the ball when Wágner Freire tried to sneak it across the goal line. The supporters of C.A MATOGROSSENSE booed when Corinthians was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 80 match minutes in a wonderful position. Wágner Freire didn't get a good kick on the ball. Vivaldo Magalhães got his second yellow card in the match during the 81st minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. Marcelinho Paraense might have been able to make a better finish in the 85th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Zé Roberto Valle. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Marcelinho Paraense ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 87th minute Marcelinho Paraense shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zé Roberto Valle saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 92nd minute, Wágner Freire managed to get in a good position for a shot. Corinthians's supporters rose to their feet, but Wágner Freire was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Luan Correia breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. C.A MATOGROSSENSE's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
