In the 27th minute of the game Luisão de Salles made a throw-in which Marcinho Saldanha played forward. After 29 minutes of play, Corinthians's Arnaldo Travassos made it 0-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Luisão Motta was left in no man's land by his defense there! Arnaldo Travassos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luisão Motta having to interfere. Luisão Motta showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Marcinho Saldanha in the 34th minute of the match. Erivaldo Secco charged in rather forcefully in the 35th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Erivaldo Secco the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 35th match minute, San miguel was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Erivaldo Secco to maneuver through the defense. Luisão Motta made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marcinho Saldanha in the 39th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in San miguel's zone, Arnaldo Travassos stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Luisão Motta came out of the goal and Arnaldo Travassos tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Luisão Motta showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Frédson Mendonça in the 42nd minute of the match. In the 45th minute Tarcisio Antunes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luisão Motta saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Disappointed in the 0-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Arnaldo Travassos to make the kick off. In the 52nd play minute Marcinho Saldanha came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Luisão Motta. 0-4. 57 minutes into the game, Simão Paulista was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. San miguel's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Corinthians the free kick. In the 57th minute, Simão Paulista hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Iuri Abreus short, quick shot in the 59thth minute got Luisão Motta to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. San miguel's Luisão Motta proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 60th minute of the match, managed to save San miguel from getting a goal against them. Through an outstanding action, after 62 minutes, Luisão Motta successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Luisão Motta made a fantastic save in the 63rd minute, when Tarcisio Antunes sent off a good shot on target. With a little luck, San miguel's Luisão Motta got control of the ball when Marcinho Saldanha tried to sneak it across the goal line. 73 minutes into the game, San miguel's Zé Augusto Berger nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Enéas Recife made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-4. In the 79th minute Arnaldo Travassos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luisão Motta saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Zé Augusto Berger struck a weak shot in the 80th minute. Enéas Recife didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for San miguel. 82 minutes into the match, Corinthians's goal looked a bit too open when Mário Paraense came free, but Enéas Recife reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Thanks to some nice moves Tarcisio Antunes could shoot a difficult shot in the 88th minute, which Luisão Motta however easily saved by the left post. Luisão Motta made an important save on a dangerous shot by Iuri Abreu in the 94th minute. San miguel's Luisão Motta played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Arnaldo Travassos in the 95th minute of play. The San miguel supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Corinthians's performance. The match ended with a win for Corinthians.
